Nano‐Optical Tweezers: Methods and Applications for Trapping Single Molecules and Nanoparticles

چکیده
Abstract Optical tweezers were developed in 1970 by Arthur Ashkin as a tool for the manipulation of micron‐sized particles. Ashkin's original design was then adapted variety purposes, such trapping and biological materials [1] laser cooling atoms. [2,3] More recent development has led to nano‐optical tweezers, particles on scale only few nanometers, holographic which allow dynamic control multiple traps real‐time. These alternatives conventional optical have made it possible trap single molecules perform studies them. Presented here is review developments their current future applications.

development of different optical methods for determination of glucose using cadmium telluride quantum dots and silver nanoparticles
a simple, rapid and low-cost scanner spectroscopy method for the glucose determination by utilizing glucose oxidase and cdte/tga quantum dots as chromoionophore has been described. the detection was based on the combination of the glucose enzymatic reaction and the quenching effect of h2o2 on the cdte quantum dots (qds) photoluminescence.in this study glucose was determined by utilizing glucose...
investigation of single-user and multi-user detection methods in mc-cdma systems and comparison of their performances
Collecting single molecules with conventional optical tweezers.
The size of particles that can be trapped in optical tweezers ranges from tens of nanometers to tens of micrometers. This size regime also includes large single molecules. Here we present experiments demonstrating that optical tweezers can be used to collect polyethylene oxide molecules suspended in water. The molecules that accumulate in the focal volume do not aggregate and therefore represen...
متن کاملRecapturing and trapping single molecules with a solid-state nanopore.
The development of solid-state nanopores, inspired by their biological counterparts, shows great potential for the study of single macromolecules. Applications such as DNA sequencing and the exploration of protein folding require control of the dynamics of the molecule's interaction with the pore, but DNA capture by a solid-state nanopore is not well understood. By recapturing individual molecu...
متن کاملNanomanipulation of single RNA molecules by optical tweezers.
A large portion of the human genome is transcribed but not translated. In this post genomic era, regulatory functions of RNA have been shown to be increasingly important. As RNA function often depends on its ability to adopt alternative structures, it is difficult to predict RNA three-dimensional structures directly from sequence. Single-molecule approaches show potentials to solve the problem ...
